2025 Arts & Literature Competition

Consumed

Created by Charlotte Zhai

We are excited to anounce that Charlotte Zhai has won 1st place for GreaterMentality’s 2025 Arts & Literature Competition!

Her winning artwork, titled Consumed, is portrayed with an intense red gaze that symbolizes the constant judgement and watching of various eyes. Additionally, the individual is described as "suffocating” due to the fear of making a mistake.

With an exceptionally strong pool of competitors for our first year, her work rose to the top due to the artwork’s creativity, originality, and overall artistic power.

Please join us in congratulating Charlotte Zhai on this well-deserved recognition. We’re thrilled to celebrate her talent!

GreaterMentality, a non-profit organization focused on mental health awareness, is proud to announce its first annual Arts and Literature Competition– running from December 1st to December 31st. There is no required incorporation fee. This event is open to all people aged 7-25, welcoming artists and writers from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and skill levels.

Through this competition, we aim to uplift and explore the various facets of mental health. Creativity is a universal language that we can all understand—and by using this skill in the context of mental health, we can raise awareness, connection, and healing. Interested participants are invited to choose between the two contests (or sign up for both!):

  1. Arts Competition: As a paintbrush dances across a canvas or a camera shutter clicks, a fleeting idea transforms into art. The Arts Competition invites participants to express the theme through the following accepted mediums: digital art, traditional art, and photography. There are a maximum of 2 entries in this section per artist.

  2. Literature Competition: With every stroke of a pencil and tap of a key, writing has the power to change minds and build empathy. The Literature Competition invites participants to express the theme through the following accepted mediums: poetry and short stories. There is a maximum of 1 entry in this section per artist.
